Colombia saw the birth of
movie  in 1954. President Gen. Gustavo Rojas Piniella in Colombia [3]
started the project to bring television as an important means after a trip to
Germany where he found the device almost by accident, since he had traveled to
Europe to buy the ammunition and weapons to Colombia that was involved then in
a war against Peru. Impressed by the technologic advances, general Piniella
dreamed of having Colombians wearing the new device. The comedy almost appeared
a decade later with the comedy Me and You (I and you)

Me and You became the starting point of comedy. Featuring Carlos Muñoz, I and
Thou represented a traditional family in Bogota and the various relationships
of family and friends. The comedy reflected the traditional life of Colombian
women and a degree of innocence in society in the late 50s.

Colombian movie has not
been prolific in the production of the comedy shows compared to developed
countries with a strong tradition of comedy. Colombia has provided buying
American sitcoms dubbed also known locally as "canned" (meaning
retained as canned food).
